The
Background on the Snarkasnoops
Meet
the Cast
Becoming...
The Snark-a-Snoops!
Snarky creators and longtime
friends, Trish Sie and Christin Underwood, know that it’s
an unlikely combination: singing, dancing and science. But they’ve
discovered that this combustible composite works wonders to ignite
children’s interest in science, while getting them moving
and grooving at the same time.
Sie
and Underwood have a history of implausible joint ventures and
freaky fusions, including a hip-hop book club rap outfit called
Turnikit, a multi-media artists collective called Babaghanoush,
and a completely ludicrous nature-and-food-based creative movement
troupe called The Fruit Flies. But in the fall of 2004, during
a series of spastic attempts to entertain Trish’s young
son, the two stumbled across their most magical formula yet: sing
crack-pot songs, dance around like lunatics, and conduct all manner
of far-out science experiments using household items and funny-sounding
words. Ka-ping, ka-pow, ka-bam: The Snark-a-Snoops were born.
In
October, 2004, the Snark-a-Snoops released their first CD, “Who’s
Living In This Cave?!”, featuring ten original songs and
the production assistance of Grammy-nominated Martin Bejerano
and music engineer Pete Thornton. Their follow-up CD, “Science
Situation,” was unleashed in April, 2005, and became an
instant smash hit with adults and kids alike.
Later
that same year, Sie and Underwood wrote, choreographed, and self-produced
a television pilot and DVD movie, “Grocery Carnival!”,
in partnership with Orlando-based production company, Sparks Pictures.
The
Snark-a-Snoops relocated to Los Angeles in May, 2006, and are
positively charged to be working with an all-new LA-based cast
of talented and crazy people. The updated live show is a manic,
semi-improvisational blend of catchy music, infectious dance numbers,
harebrained humor, and madcap science. Toddlers and very young
children get into the music, motion and general mayhem. Older
kids dig the berserk science and offbeat humor. And everyone gets
hooked on the memorable music and magnetic personalities of Dr.
4 and Professor Cheddar and the whole Snarky crew.
The
Snark-a-Snoops have been featured at the Orlando Science Center,
the Orlando Museum of Art, Storyopolis, Vroman's, LA's Geffen
Playhouse, numerous children’s music and art festivals,
the renowned SAK Comedy Lab, public libraries everywhere, and
countless private events.

Meet the Cast...

Trish
Sie (Dr. 4) got her start in her bedroom, singing showtunes,
wearing hiking boots and fantasizing that she was an Olympic figure
skater and/or a Solid Gold Dancer. These days, she has a Grammy
Award, a degree in music theory and composition from the University
of Pennsylvania, and degrees in ballroom and Latin American dancing
from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. She is an international
Latin and ballroom dance champion, as well as an accomplished
choreographer and director, working across a wide spectrum, including
television commercials, music videos, musical theater, modern
dance, and professional DanceSport. Her concepts, choreography,
and direction for the rock band OK Go have produced two of the
most downloaded music videos of all time: the acclaimed backyard
dance, "A Million Ways," which was nominated for Best
Music Video of the Year at the 2006 MTV Europe Awards, and the
outlandish treadmill dance, "Here It Goes Again," which
won a 2007 Grammy for Best Short-Form Music Video and was performed
live at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. She has also worked with
Rufus Wainwright, Disney's Imagination Movers, ESPN, Southern
Ballet Theatre, Audio Visual Imagineering, American Ballroom Company,
On-Stage Moving Company, and television's acclaimed Championship
Ballroom Dancing. She’d like to thank the rest of the Snarky
cast for their humor, zeal and diligence.

and has worked for many years as a nanny to children of all ages.
Before becoming a Snark-a-Snoop, she worked as a ballroom dance
teacher, an executive assistant, a dance studio manager, a professional
gourmet cake designer, and an artistic candle-maker. She lives
in Los Angeles.

David is also Director of the children's dance company, Pure Movement
Dance, and really really loves working with kids. He wants to
send a special thanks to 4 and Cheddar for their fun-loving, slipping-and-falling,
crazy ways and for this opportunity… to the cast for being
the coolest....and to Guy and Luke, the best production duo on
the planet. Hope everyone enjoys the show, and look out for Ethan
the Robot Clothing Line coming out soon!!!!

Derek
Mehn (King Bat) is a sketch comedian, first and foremost.
He is founder and Artistic Director of the L.A. sketch troupe,
Straitjacket Society, and has performed for ABC/Touchstone TV,
Comedy Central, Second City, and at comedy festivals in L.A. and

single, "Invisible Touch", masterfully lip-sung by Tommy
Wilson at the 4th-grade talent show.

Camille Bennett
(Longtongue Bat) made her way to
LA fresh from college, having earned a BA in Theatre Arts. Shortly
after arriving, she booked the critically acclaimed Freaks
& Geeks. Since those early days, she has appeared on
several network television shows, commercials, and feature films,
most notably, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. She's a founding

he's a naughty Fruit Bat in the Snark-a-Snoops and he's been known
to tell people, "Listen, what's the big deal? I don't mind
trying to scare little children...."

Guy
and Luke Vardaman (Operations/Production)
After working for many years with all things Star Trek
at Paramount Pictures, Guy was ready for something even more far-out
with more down-to-Earth science: Snark-a-Snoops! So, he jumped
on board the Snarky Train to help convey a love of science to
youngsters everywhere, starting with his son, Luke. Guy handles
various operations for the team and tries to keep Ethan’s
programming up-to-date and Professor Cheddar away from the sometimes
edible experiments! For now, Luke is just following Daddy's lead...
Guy and Luke want to thank Mary for her support while "the boys" chase the
ever-elusive Snarkabing!
